The Artist

One can name many emotions: fear, love, longing. But there are even more feelings without names. My paintings are about both kinds of feelings. I am trying also to paint what one cannot say in words.

I have painted faces and bodies. I have imagined bodies to be landscapes and faces to be unfinished stories. I have concentrated on the glance which in a moment touches the horizon of life. Perhaps when one steps out of a bus; when one feels the wind from the sea; or when sitting in a dusty waiting room.

When painting I lose control of what I am doing. Sometimes it all ends well, but often in a ruined canvas. In general, I try to organise what I am doing in stories like: Faces as Landscapes, Touching the Horizon, Dreams by Daylight, The Four Graces, The Everyday Smile, Blues, and Saudade.
